Have you ever looked at photographs from your childhood and thought, 'they don't create the emotions I felt at the time'. Well so did I, apart from the fact lots of those photos vanished over time, I wanted to tell my story to hand to my children and grandchildren to see my life as it was when I was young. So I set about painting quick sketches from my memories putting it all down on paper, just as I remembered them. I didn't want detailed paintings, just fleeting glimpses of my childhood years. I didn't even stay in the lines, (much to the horror of my Granddaughter) but allowed the paint to drift out giving a sense of movement.

Well once I started I couldn't stop, and ended up with about 70 sketches, so we had an exhibition in our gallery which was very successful. Then I decided to write about each sketch as I remembered events and put some of them in a small book which Amazon published. Amazon don't charge anything to publish your book and you can buy printed copies at very good discount to give, or even sell, to friends and family. You don't need to use Amazon as there are plenty of online companies that can publish your book.

So let me take you on this course and show you in videos how I painted some of these sketches, and what materials I used. Then you too can produce your own book or album that will say so much more about your life than photos ever could.
